Day 1: Cusco - Puerto Maldonado - Jungle Lodge - Isla de los monos.-
Upon arrival of your flight to Puerto Maldonado, our guide or staff will be waiting for you at the airport and you will be transferred to the city center where you can visit the exotic local market. Depending on the arrival time of the flights you can have the first lunch here or while traveling to the hostel. Your luggage will be stored safely in our Office in Puerto Maldonado and then we will continue to the port. We will take our private boat along the Madre de Dios River for approximately 1 hour until we reach a lodge called Tambo Lodge. Upon arrival, the administrator of the lodge will give us a delicious natural fruit juice and then give us an instruction regarding our stay at the lodge. In the afternoon we will take a 30-minute boat trip to the island of the monkeys, where you can see a great variety of monkeys such as the “Maquisapa”, “Martin”, “León Pequeno”, “Frailes”, “achuñis” , "ronsocos", etc, as well as a great variety of birds, We return to the hostel for a delicious traditional dinner. Nighttime activities are available every night in order to observe black alligators, northern monkeys, owls, tarantulas etc, etc. Lunch, Dinner included.
Day 2: Jungle Lodge - Sandoval Lake (Reserved area) .-
After a fantastic breakfast, we will take a motor boat ride for approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes until the beginning of the walk by trail heading to the reserved area of Lake Sandoval, where we will have a 2- hour walk through the virgin forest with a large amount of flora and fauna until we reach Lake Sandoval where we can see different species of animals and birds such as: Los Lobos de Río, Waterfowl, Alligators, wild chickens, taricayas (small turtles ) and a variety of fish. We will spend a few hours canoeing in one of the most beautiful lakes in Madre de Dios where you can fish for piranhas, swim, walk or just relax before returning to the lodge. We will have a box lunch at Lake Sandoval. One of the most impressive and inspiring features of the Jungle is seeing the enormity of the trees and you will have the experience of being at the base of one of the largest trees in the jungle called the Lupuna tree. We will also have the opportunity to visit the traditional agricultural areas of the area. In the afternoon after a fairly busy day, we will return to our lodge Night activities are available every night in order to observe black alligators , northern monkeys, owls, tarantulas etc, etc. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included.
Day 3: Jungle Lodge - Taricaya Project.-
This day there is the opportunity to discover the amazing ecosystem up close along a series of trails. We will again take our motor boat down the river for a time of 1 hour and 30 minutes until arriving at the Taricaya Project who will be guided by a local guide and with a great experience in the jungle. Likewise, you will have the opportunity to listen to the sounds of different jungle birds and recognize some plants of natural medicine.After a delicious lunch, you or you will have the opportunity to walk on top of the bridges made of tree bark and then return again to our respective bergue. Night activities are available every night in order to observe black alligators, northern monkeys, owl, tarantulas etc, etc. Lunch, Dinner included.
Day 4: Jungle Lodge - Collpa de Loros - Puerto Maldonado - Cusco or Lima.-
Very early departure to see the Collpa de Loros, this day we will enjoy a very wonderful sunrise in our motor boat that will take us more than 2 hours of travel until we reach the Parrot Clay Lick, where we will appreciate different types of Parrots and Macaws. In this place we will stop for about 1 hour to observe the behavior of the Birds, then we will return to our lodge to enjoy a delicious breakfast and immediately board our boat in the direction of Puerto Maldonado. We recommend being at the airport 2 hours before taking your flight to either Cusco or Lima.
